Welcome to Weydown Pre-School and Day Nursery, based in Haslemere Surrey. We cater for children aged 3 months to 5 years and provide an environment to explore, grow and learn.

We aim to lay the foundations for a happy childhood, a fulfilling future and a love of learning. We understand how important it is to nurture, care for and prepare our children for the next steps of their learning journey. With this in mind, we provide an environment, activities and learning experiences to equip our children with a set of skills to build upon independently.
We are very lucky to have a well qualified, dedicated team who are backed by a high standard of teaching qualifications and many years of childcare experience. We pride ourselves on selecting staff members who will complement our existing team’s energy, enthusiasm and social skills. We believe that our team provide superb role models for our children and follow a key philosophy of showing rather than simply telling. All of our team are paediatric first trained and hold child care qualifications, or are working towards a qualification.

NUTURE, BELONGING AND OPPORTUNITY
PHILOSOPHY
At Weydown Nursery, we combine trusted early years approaches with our own creative practice to provide rich, inclusive learning environments. We value every child as an individual, nurturing their wellbeing, confidence and independence.
FOREST SCHOOL
We help children build upon their self confidence and esteem through first hand learning experiences in a natural learning environment. This presents opportunity to learn within nature and a real world setting.
MARIA MONTESSORI and REGGIO EMILIA
We support children to develop confidence and independence through hands-on, meaningful experiences in a carefully prepared environment. Inspired by both approaches, we view the environment as the 'third educator' encouraging curiosity, exploration and creativity through real-life and nature based opportunities.
THE CURIOSITY APPROACH
Our approach is further enriched by a Curiosity Approach-inspired environment, combining elements of Reggio Emilia and Montessori to create a calm, engaging space that sparks curiosity, independence and awe in learning.

We believe that good communication is vital. At Weydown Pre-School and Day Nursery we work hard to ensure that we build a strong relationship with parents and care-givers. This enables us to support our children in the best way through their learning and development opportunities, and challenges.

KEY PERSON
Each child is assigned to a key person who has a responsibility to monitor the child’s progress, maintain developmental records and plan and provide stimulating activities to encourage the child’s development. In addition, we have regular parent’s evenings which will provide an opportunity to discuss your child and their development with their key person.
COMMUNICATION
Keeping parents well informed is essential for us to provide the highest quality of care possible. Our market leading app, Famly, allows us to record updates for your child throughout the day and enables parents and caregivers to receive these updates and photos. We will communicate face-to-face, via telephone and email where necessary. Parents are also invited to attend open and information evenings throughout the year, as well as arranging to come into the nursery to do activities with the children when time allows.
OUTDOORS
We believe that nature is the best learning environment for our children. We encourage children to enjoy the great outdoors at least once, if not twice, a day - no matter what the weather!
FEE INFORMATION
FUNDED ENTITLEMENTS
Weydown Nursery offers funded early education for eligible children from 9 months old to school age.
Funded hours can be accessed at Weydown between 9:00am–3:00pm for a full funded session, 9:00am–12:00pm for a morning funded session, or 1:30pm–4:30pm for an afternoon funded session.
Families are not required to purchase additional hours, meals, consumables or activities in order to access their funded entitlement.

CHILDCARE VOUCHERS
We accept all childcare vouchers.
DEPOSITS
A £100 refundable deposit is required when a place is offered.
For children accessing funded entitlement hours only, the deposit will be refunded in full once the funded place has been verified through the initial termly headcount process and the first funded payment has been received by the Nursery.
Where families purchase additional private hours, the deposit may be held and applied towards the final calendar month’s private fees.
If a child does not take up an agreed place without sufficient notice, the deposit may be retained in accordance with our terms and conditions.
A deposit is not a condition of accessing a funded entitlement place.
PAYMENT OF FEES
Private fees and any additional privately purchased hours are payable monthly in advance. Funded entitlement hours are provided without charge. Any optional additional charges will be clearly explained to families and are not a condition of accessing a funded place.
NAPPIES & WIPES
Please note that if required, you will need to provide nappies and wipes for your child
FEES REVIEW
We review our fees annually in November to take effect in January.
EYFS CURRICULUM
Every child deserves the best possible start in life. This is achieved through the right support, love and environment to encourage children to fulfil their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experience between birth and age five can have a major impact on their future. We believe that good parenting together with high quality early learning provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the standards that we must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. The framework promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ‘school readiness’ and gives the children a broad range of knowledge, first hand experience and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life. The Birth to Five Framework has been created by the Early Years Coalition to support Early Years Practitioners develop their practice and support children to effectively grow in this modern age. It is still encouraged that Practitioners use this document along with their own professional knowledge to help guide children's learning and development appropriately. The EYFS seeks to provide quality and consistency in early years settings, a secure foundation through learning, partnership between practitioners and parents and equality of opportunity; ensuring that every child is included and supported.
The EYFS specifies requirements for learning and development and for safeguarding children and promoting their welfare.
